Behind Mason Jar Book Co.

Mason Jar Book Co. is run by a husband and wife team who share more than a home, we share a passion for books. One of us is a Doctor of Nursing Practice, the other a Theology major, and together we’ve built a shop that reflects both care and curiosity.

We don’t just sell books, we live them. From rare and antique treasures to signed modern editions, from oddities that make you pause to classics that anchor a shelf, our hunt is fueled by love for the written word.

What makes us different is simple: we treat every book the way we treat each other...with respect, attention, and a little Southern charm.

Meet Us

We are Kenny and Sarah, the husband and wife team behind Mason Jar Book Co. Along with raising four kids, we spend our days chasing, collecting, reading, and writing stories. Books are more than a business for us; they're part of how we teach, dream, and live. Kenny studied theology and has never stopped wrestling with faith, history, and the hidden threads between them. His writing so far delves into Constantine and the empire's grip on Christianity, the forgotten voices of early sects like the Marcionites, and the contradictions within modern evangelical culture. He writes edge, curiosity, and a determination to uncover truths buried beneath centuries of tradition. Sarah, a Doctor of Nursing, brings a different but equally vital perspective, along with a Master's Degree in biomedical science. Her passion for reading has long been matched by a desire to tell stories of her own. Her upcoming writing will draw from her life, and exploring themes of compassion, resilience, and imagination. While Kenny investigates the weight of history, Sarah breathes life into the everyday and the imaginative. Together, Mason Jar Book Co. is our shared table: a place where antique books meet living voices, history and imagination sit side by side, and where every shelf carries not just stories, but a bit of family too.

Unholy Authority

This book came out of years of wrestling, studying, and finally refusing to pretend anymore. If you’ve ever felt pressured, manipulated, or spiritually suffocated by church culture, this is for you. If you’ve ever wondered what Jesus actually taught, outside the noise, this is for you.

The Churchless Christian

In these pages, Kenneth Young traces the long history of how Christianity drifted from a movement of ordinary people into an institution of authority and expectations—and how countless sincere believers got lost in the process. With compassion and clarity, he gives language to the struggle so many face but rarely name: the feeling of loving Jesus while feeling pushed out by those who claim to represent Him.

Unholy Authority is the book that isn’t afraid to say what everyone else tiptoes around. In it, Kenny dismantles the fear-based systems that have quietly shaped modern church culture — and shows how Jesus Himself pushed back against the very same tactics. This is a sharp, compassionate wake-up call for believers who feel trapped, manipulated, or spiritually suffocated, and are ready to reclaim a faith rooted in truth, freedom, and courage.

This is Kenny’s most personal journey — the raw, honest story of discovering that salvation was never locked behind a church door. The Churchless Christian invites readers into the struggle, the doubt, the deconstruction, and the rediscovery of a faith that actually brings life instead of guilt. If you’ve ever wondered whether church attendance defines your worth, your faith, or your salvation… this book gives the clarity you’ve been aching for.
